Camel linen tablecloth;  white, gold and silver printed linen napkins; bright pink and coral dahlias: this is Huddleson’s fall table setting inspiration!  This dinner party was so beautiful and such fun, I wanted to share.

Squeezing in a last outdoor dinner party before the clocks fell back, the linens we used were a Camel gold linen tablecloth paired with the Melita Metallic linen napkin – a beautifully delicate print in shades of gold, silver and bronze on a white linen.

The late season dahlias in pink and coral arranged in a vintage white porcelain vase were fabulous, adding a wonderful blast of joyful energy and color.

The brass and glass terrariums did sterling duty as hurricane vases to shelter the candles and cast the most flattering light as darkness fell.

The evening’s house cocktail was a French 75:

2 Parts Champagne/Prosecco

1 Part Gin

A generous squeeze of fresh lemon

Simple syrup or honey: sweeten to your taste

Add mint to keep it summery fresh.   Serve as cold as possible.

After starting with a mixed antipasti and olives, for main course we had two large salads and marinated grilled beef.

Fall Table Setting Inspiration Bean Salad

Bean and tomato salad:

Chop off the ends of the green beans and boil until they start to soften: 4-5 minutes.  Drain.

When they have cooled in the strainer, put into the bowl you will serve them in and add halved cherry tomatoes and scatter with chopped almonds.

Dressing is 3 parts olive oil to 2 parts red wine vinegar, add in a squirt of lemon juice, some crushed garlic and fresh basil.  I’m adding honey to everything at the moment, this is no exception!  Dress an hour before serving to allow the flavors to seap into the vegetables.

Salad II:  Superfood Salad

It sounds like an LA cliche, but this salad is delicious, filling and yes…people on most diets and with most intolerances won’t object.

Ingredients: Chopped Napa Cabbage, Chopped Kale, Edamame (cooked and removed from shell), Cucumber Batons, Carrot Batons, Blueberries, Goji Berries, Walnut Pieces (if all your guests can handle a nut), Gala Apple Pieces, Pine Nuts

Dressing: Mix equal parts white wine vinegar and olive oil.  Add a good dose of Acai juice (if you don’t have it, use another not-too-sweet fruit juice: orange, cranberry, raspberry etc.).  Salt and pepper to season.

I picked wines toward the center of spectrum on both white and red – an unoaked Californian Chardonnay and a French Pinot Noir.

We finished with apple pie and cream…but I was too slow to catch a photo of it.
