It really can be the most magical time of year – gathering friends and family and, well, getting a little festive! Christmas table decoration can go in many directions – from simple white or ivory to more richer saturated colors.
For this festive feast we stuck with the traditional colors of the season – red and green – with snowy white accents in the birch balls and floral arrangements.
For the menu we started with olives and stuffed mushroom canapés. The napkin is Huddleson Japanese Cotton Shibori in Indigo.
The green and ivory napkins pulled the color theme from the dining table to the sitting room where the party started with canapes and champagne.
The centrepieces add height and texture to the table setting. The winter white flower arrangements have mistletoe berries and coniferous branches. We used hand-made stoneware vases by local ceramicist Tracy Wilkinson. Also in the center of the table we had fir branches, birch balls and pine cones.
The red and green plaid cotton napkins are about as festive as you can get! They are utterly joyous…and don’t discount using them for steak night during the year (probably without a green tablecloth!)
Main course was traditional roast ham, served with roast vegetables and potatoes – the temptation was overwhelming for poor Brownie the chocolate labrador!
To finish, desert was apricot tart served with crème fraiche.
